I have long had my suspicions that much happens in Sacramento that never shows up on the legislation tracking website. This was confirmed last week when several forestry bills were heard in the Assembly Natural Resources Committee without any hearing notice appearing in the website. Our contacts report
On the consent calendar — AB 2802 (potential for reducing current stocking standards), AB 2112 (extending the time to file a THP extension), and AB 2184Bills approved on roll call vote include AB 2048 (modification of SRA fee), and AB 1867 extending the current residential exemption from 150 to 300 feet.
Progress generally went in the forestry community’s favor this time, but we still don’t approve of this way of doing business. It takes time to read, analyze and formulate comments to amendments to bills, and the public deserves to know what is going on so they can weigh in on laws that will affect their lives in the future.
That said, here is the current legislation progress table, at least so far as we have information.
