The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (HJTA) reports that the California State Board of Equalization ha resumed billion for the SRA Fire Prevention Fees.
Like last year, they are billing county by county in alphabetical order. You may see the schedule here.
Even though HJTA has a class action suit in progress contesting the fee as an illegal tax, you must still pay. If the HJTA suit wins, then those people who have filed a timely Petition for Redetermination will be refunded.
If you filed a Petition for Redetermination with your last bill and received a denial that was not based on the Petition filing being late, you do not need to file it again. If you have not yet filed the petition or you filed late, you may still file. You can find forms and instruction of the HJTA website, FireTaxProtest.org.
